Katherine Rose and her twin brother Brodie were born on a beautiful snowy day on December 30th, 2003. We were overjoyed at the gift God gave us in having both a boy and a girl after struggles with infertility and undergoing IVF. We enjoy and love each and every day with our beautiful children!
In January 2008 Katherine was diagnosed with a rare disease called Chiari Malformation. Because of damage she developed a cyst in her spinal cord that extends from her brain to the end of her spinal cord. Several surgeries later to try and correct this has yet to be successful. Unfortunately, with each MRI as of yet, the growth continues to expand. We pray every day for a miracle, that this growth will disappear before it causes paralysis.
As I write this it has almost been a year since her very first surgery. Today is April 5th, 2009. Since then Katherine has endured approximately 10 neurosurgical procedures. Katherine and I have spent countless days, months, away from Daddy and Brodie. Through it all Katherine has been SO very brave, a pillar of strength. There have been moments watching what our little girl has endured that when she falls asleep, we break down in tears, yet she rarely ever breaks down.
